Serge Meets Connor

Serge Meets Connor

What did you want to be when you were younger and what inspired this?

I wanted to be a musician, a frontman/showman. I used to watch the likes of Elvis and was just fascinated by the show he put on. Creating your own look and sound, I love that. That then led to the Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Clash etc. I wanted to be a frontman in a band.

Your favourite piece of Serge jewellery ever?

I'm obsessed with the Silver Keeper Ring. It's got that real old-school chunky Del-Boy vibe and then it's being silver instead of gold gives it that modern twist. It can be a day-to-day piece but looks wicked dressed up. A staple.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I try not to think about where I'll be in the future, I love not knowing what is around the corner. Anything can happen that way. I know I want to keep working with good people, creative people, and people with important stories to tell. It would be amazing to work with people I admire of course and I hope I do but working with good people on projects that excite me will always be number one.

You recently starred in a new series on BBC! What was your favourite thing about Everything I know about love?

I fell in love with the story after reading the script. It hit me in all the feels and still does. Street (Connor's character) was certainly an interesting character to work and spend time with! But again, it comes back to the people I worked with, I still speak to everyone and miss seeing them every day.

How did you get into acting?

I'd always loved films and got obsessed with reading about films and watching classics. Then an opportunity just happened one day, one of my first mentors had written a play and asked me to be part of it and I fell in love with the idea of transforming from me into this character. After that, I knew I wanted to work as hard as I could to try and make it my job.

What is something you never told anyone before?

Ooh...Admittedly, I have tattoos that I regret. I won't cover them or remove them though, you've gotta live with your mistakes. I have a load now and love nearly all of them. All I'll say is, don't get a tattoo because it's cheap and maybe don't get one on the day of having the idea.

Who was the last person you texted?

Without looking I can almost guarantee it's my Mum. Always my Mum.

Describe yourself in three words.

Driven, Passionate and Loving.

One piece of clothing you couldn't live without?

A tweed flat cap. I've got one too many but there's one special one that is always with me. It's got the classic east end / Brit pop-mod / Pete Doherty thing going that I think is timeless. It goes with anything for any occasion. (Well at least that's what I've been telling myself for however many years)

Who is your biggest acting inspiration and why?

Gary Oldman. Hands down. Anyone who knows me knows that answer will never change. He's the reason I became an actor, and he still is. Seeing a working-class actor become one of the world's best is so inspiring. He's done it all and can do it all. He's an inspiration, he's the level to aim for. He's the best.

What is your favourite film of all time?

This can change daily...I have an Edward Scissorhands tattoo so that's always going to be up there. Snatch was a big film for me but I also watch Pretty Woman at least once a month. I can't pick one film.
